On May 4th and 5th, 2026, our investor advisor Susanne Schierock visited the Swiss Biotech Day (SBD) for the first time in the Congress Center Basel. It is one of the most important European conferences for the global biotechnology and life sciences industry. This year the conference welcomed more than 3,500 participants from 58 countries and more than 130 exhibitors. Thousands of one-to-one discussions were arranged in advance of the conference through the organizer's extensive partnering options. This year's event was the largest and most international edition to date.

Switzerland has established itself as a leading biopharmaceutical location in Europe.

The location is supported by excellent research institutions, highly innovative start-ups as well as well-capitalized and globally networked pharmaceutical companies. This ecosystem enables an extraordinary density of innovations, rapid technology transfer and close cooperation between companies, science and investors.

The SBD also makes a significant contribution to this networking. The conference offers a uniqueplatform for networking, partnerships and international collaborationwithin the biotechnology and life sciences industry. This year's edition focused in particular on future-oriented technologies and developments, including advances in the areas of artificial intelligence, efficient bioproduction, data management and innovative financing strategies.

Bayern International was represented for the first time in the SBD's “Global Village” together with 16 companies as well as BioM and the cluster for biotechnologyand presented itself as an open “partnering booth” that specifically invited exchanges between companies, investors and international delegations. At the same time, interested parties were able to gain a first practical impression of the ecosystem in Bavaria.

Invest in Bavaria was able to make intensive use of the opportunities in advance and on site at the SBD.

Susanne Schierokarranged numerous meetings in advance via the partnering platform and rated the format as extremely practical and efficient. During the event, she had interesting discussions with various companies from the international biotech and life sciences industry - most of them at the Bavarian joint stand.

It became clear that Bavaria is an extremely attractive location for many companies in the industry. Numerous discussions revealed both the interest of international companies in settling in the Free State and the desire of companies already established to further expand their activities and presence in Bavaria. Invest in Bavaria's first visit to the SBD offered a valuable opportunity for targeted exchange and to present Bavaria as a strong innovation and investment location with its strengths in the international biotech environment. At the same time, the information collected about trends or the latest research results, for example, benefits companies that want to locate in Bavaria or are planning an expansion.
