New York May 01, 2014

There's a special kind of bird coming to chirp in Bryant Park New York on May 1st!

The renowned Regensburger Domspatzen (which translates to "cathedral sparrows") of Regensburg, Germany, are holding an hour long concert in Midtown Manhattan.

The a capella choir, made up of 56 young men, travels the world performing music and acting as ambassadors for their homeland. The performance will contain sacred and secular a cappella music, compositions from Renaissance, Baroque, Romanticism and modern times as well as madrigals, solo parts and folk songs.

In existence for more than a thousand years and known for its stylistic versatility and technical proficiency, the Regensburger Domspatzen is one of Bavaria's most treasured cultural icons. The choir appears regularly on German radio and television and has released numerous recordings. On this 2014 U.S. tour, the youth choir will be directed by award-winning conductor Professor Roland Buchner, who has directed the Domspatzen for the past 20 years.
