Google expands its Bavarian location
Google is developing Munich into an international data protection centre. The number of employees should double by the end of the year.
Munich is an important location for Google. Dr. Wieland Holfelder, Vice President of Engineering & Head of Google Development Centre, told us the reasons in an interview.
Munich is recognised as one of the top ICT locations in Europe and we really benefit from that.
Good prospects for Google
The corporation has now announced that the site in Munich will be expanded. The number of developers should double to over 1,000 by the end of the year.
The Safety Engineering Center was opened this week. Its main focus - as the name of the centre suggests - will be data protection. Specialists will deal with topics around security and privacy. With the expansion of the site, Google wants to underpin its promise of more and easier data protection.
The Munich site is also working on the development of the Google browser Chrome and of Cloud services. Find out here how Google benefits from a Bavarian location.
