Delegation tripAug 6, 2026

Bavaria and the United Kingdom have a long-standing, close economic partnership. In order to further expand these relationships and open up new investment potential, Invest in Bavaria accompanied the Bayern International delegation trip to Great Britain led by State Secretary for Economic Affairs Tobias Gotthardt. The focus was on discussions with companies, political decision-makers and partners from research and administration - with the common goal of driving innovation and initiating new collaborations.

For Johannes Scherzer, Manager Investor Services at Invest in Bavaria, the trip, which was organised by Bayern International, offered an ideal platform to talk to British companies that are expanding their activities in Europe or are considering a location in Germany. In numerous discussions, he presented Bavaria as a leading innovation location with excellent conditions for international companies - especially in the areas of aerospace, digitalization and high-tech.

Conversations with representatives from business, politics and science

In addition to the company discussions, the program included meetings with representatives from politics, science and administration. The direct exchange with these multipliers strengthens Invest in Bavaria's international network and creates important starting points for future settlement and cooperation projects. Technology-oriented companies in particular benefit from a strong innovation ecosystem, short routes to research institutions and close networking between business, science and the public sector. The Bavarian Economic Representation office in London, in cooperation with Invest in Bavaria, supports British companies in entering the market in the Free State.

"The discussions in Great Britain have once again shown that Bavaria is an extremely attractive location for British companies. We see great interest in cooperation and investments, particularly in future industries such as aerospace."
– Johannes Scherzer, Invest in Bavaria

The United Kingdom continues to be one of Bavaria's most important international economic partners. With a bilateral trade volume of around 16.4 billion euros (2025), Great Britain is one of the Free State's ten most important trading partners. Bavarian exports to the United Kingdom have recently developed positively and underline the close economic ties between the two locations. There are excellent prospects for British companies in Bavaria, particularly in the areas of aerospace, digitalization and research and development.

Invest in Bavaria: Support for British companies with settlement and expansion projects

For British companies looking to expand their presence in the European market, Bavaria is an ideal location. Invest in Bavaria, the settlement agency of the Free State of Bavaria, supports international companies free of charge and confidentially - from the initial location consultation through networking with relevant contacts from business, science and administration to successful settlement. The delegation trip once again showed that direct exchange with local companies and partners is an important component in initiating investments and further expanding the successful economic relations between Bavaria and the United Kingdom.
