A touch of Oktoberfest in Utrecht

The first “Duitslanddag” took place in Utrecht/Netherlands on September 23, 2015. The event provided Dutch companies already conducting business in Germany, or those planning to do so, the opportunity of meeting a wide range of service providers, government organisations and consultants and obtain information on the subject of “Investing in Germany”. Of course, Invest in Bavaria also participated in the event – in proper style to mark the annual Oktoberfest.

Almost 800 visitors accepted the invitation by the German-Dutch Chamber of Commerce (DNHK) to take part in the event held in the rustic premises on a former factory for milk powder. And they were not disappointed: the setting was the backdrop for almost 30 workshops, podium discussions and information sessions which provided visitors from different sectors with valuable information on the business world in Germany. One workshop was even dedicated to the topic of “High-Tech in Southern Germany”.

The information provided was supplemented by over 40 exhibitors who were available to answer questions and showcase their products and services. This included a special gem: The Invest in Bavaria booth played with the clichés associated with the Oktoberfest: booth staff dressed in traditional attire – pretzels and gingerbread hearts as decoration and as takeaways. Only the serving of Bavarian (!) beer was left to professional caterers.

As a result of the excellent discussions and established contacts, Invest in Bavaria is already looking forward to taking part in next year's event and intensifying contacts between the Netherlands and (southern) Germany.
