The district of Passau presents itself as a hotspot for innovative companies

District Administrator; Franz Meyer, seeks to “...give all those interested an insight into the diverse and exciting activities the field of research and development in the district of Passau has to offer ...”.

A total of 22 innovative companies within the district are presented in the brochure which comprises a spectrum of services ranging from road construction, packaging technology, mechanical engineering, environmental technology as well as the food industry and biotechnology, all the way to state-of-the-art IT solutions. All this demonstrates the district's stable economic structure that can build on a broad foundation of companies and specialists from a wide variety of business sectors. In particular, the networking of individual companies amongst one another as well as to research and educational institutions also contributes to the district's stable structure, in addition to several other factors. As a result, the region's innovative strength, and thus the entire economic area, receives a sustained boost. 

In doing so, the district is pursuing an innovative path, particularly in the initial education and training phases, and is already attempting to inspire even the “little ones” to develop an interest in technology, research and ingenuity by introducing different programmes and initiatives. There are various opportunities offered by institutions such as the “Haus der kleinen Forscher”, “Erfindergymnasium” and “Wissenswerkstatt” as well as numerous programmes to encourage young talent.
