Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation selects Munich for its Quality Assurance Department for Europe

Johann Niggl: “Welcome in Bavaria – one of the leading aerospace regions worldwide“

Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation Europe B.V. has established a Quality Assurance Department in Munich. Main objective of the new department is the strengthening of collaboration with regional partners. “We are happy to welcome Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation in Bavaria. The presence of such an outstanding global aerospace player shows once more the relevance of Bavaria as a leading aerospace region”, says Dr. Johann Niggl, Executive Director of Invest in Bavaria, the Business Promotion Agency of the Free State of Bavaria.

“The closeness to our partners was one of the main reasons why we opened our office in Munich” emphasizes Mr. Shinya Moriyama, Senior Vice President, Chief Quality Officer of Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation. “Munich is the ideal location to set up a business with its well-developed infrastructure with two direct flights from Munich Airport to Narita Airport. Above all, the tailor-made service of Invest in Bavaria also persuaded us to be part of the strong business community in Bavaria”

Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation commenced operation on April 1, 2008 to conduct the design, type certification, procurement, sales & marketing and customer support of the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ). The MRJ is a family of 70- to 90- seat next-generation regional jets which will offer both top-class operational economy and outstanding cabin comfort. Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation is capitalized at 100 billion yen, with financing furnished by, among others, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., Toyota Motor Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation, Sumitomo Corporation and Mitsui & Co., Ltd.

Bavaria opened the very first of its foreign representative offices in Tokyo, Japan, 25 years ago. There are 25 around the world. Around 330 Japanese companies have set up premises in Bavaria since the office was set up. With around 6,500 Japanese people (of whom around 3,600 are in Munich and around 300 in Nuremberg) and its own Japanese schools, the Japanese community in Bavaria is now the second largest in Germany. Events will take place throughout the year in both Bavaria and Japan to celebrate this anniversary year.
