Bavarian Aerospace Strategy 2030 has been decided

Aigner: “Ensuring the aerospace industry's pioneering role sustainably”

MUNICH In a cabinet meeting today, Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs, Ilse Aigner, presented the 'Bavarian Aerospace Strategy 2030' ('Bayerische Luftfahrtstrategie 2030') which analyses the framework conditions that exist for the Bavarian aerospace industry and outlines strategic fields of action. The strategy is the state government's response to the changing competitive conditions the Bavarian aerospace industry has to face throughout Europe and the world.

Aigner: “Bavaria is an aerospace location with a long tradition. To make sure that this tradition will continue to live on in future, the Bavarian state government, in collaboration with the Cluster Aerospace, industry and research institutions, has defined strategic focal points and fields of action. The Bavarian Aerospace Strategy thus paves the way for sustainable growth of the aerospace sector in Bavaria.” In order to secure a permanent positioning of the Bavarian aerospace industry within the international environment, it is necessary to further boost investments and innovation in the aerospace industry, says Aigner. “We want to strengthen our competitiveness through investments in research and development, networking and internationalisation as well as through ensuring a sufficient availability of young specialists. We want to retain and expand existing core competencies, especially in the areas of system capability, drive technologies, unmanned flying, aerospace systems and material sciences. Last but not least, we want to increase our international visibility, secure and expand existing locations and also support the aerospace strategy of the federal government,” says Minister Aigner.
The economic policy measures of the state government are orientated along the long research and product cycles of the aerospace industry, the associated financing risks and their effects on the supplier landscape in Bavaria, which largely consists of small and medium-sized companies.
