The Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs calls for the submission of project proposals for the “3D printing” initiative
MUNICH The Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs is calling on companies of all sizes and research institutes to submit project proposals for the “3D printing” initiative by 17 September, 2018. Up to EUR 4 million are being provided as grants for innovative research and development projects in the first phase. With this initiative the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs is funding innovations in 3D printing that drive digitalisation forward in Bavaria. Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs Franz Josel Pschierer: “3D printing is not just a new manufacturing process, it will change manufacturing processes and allow for new business models. Industrial 3D printing is one of the key technologies in digital production. Thanks to additive production, highly complex components can be produced in one step with a batch size of 1. We want to develop Bavaria’s leading position in industrial 3D printing with this.”
The “3D printing” initiative for the future is part of Bavaria’s Digital II master plan. The Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs is supporting joint projects between business and science with roughly EUR 250 million over the next four years. This is to develop Bavaria’s leading role as a technology location further.
