Aigner: “The establishment of the head office and research and production proves that Bavaria is perceived internationally as a top location”

MUNICH The Japanese firm Sunstar Engineering is investing heavily in Bavaria and creating up to 100 new jobs in the long term. The manufacturer of adhesives and sealants is constructing a new building for the production and development of its products in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and founding its new European head office for the chemical business division in Rain am Lech.

Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Ilse Aigner: “Bavaria is an excellent location for both research and production companies. We have an outstanding innovation landscape and are continuously developing these structures. And that is also being recognised worldwide, as the current establishment of the Japanese chemicals company Sunstar Engineering in Rain am Lech proves. Thus resulting in jobs and growth in the region, which strengthens Bavaria as a technology location on the whole. Invest in Bavaria, the business development agency at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, has actively supported the project. We will also support the company’s development in Bavaria in future.”

The establishment was supported by Invest in Bavaria, the state of Bavaria’s business development agency, as well as Germany Trade and Invest, the economic development agency of the Federal Republic of Germany. This is one of the largest investments in the state by a foreign firm in the producing industry in the last few years. The industrial area on Gempfinger Straße was newly developed especially for this. “Bavaria was the most attractive region for us,” says Yoshihiro Nakata Managing Director of Sunstar Engineering Europe. “We opted for Bavaria and Rain as the town offered to tailor the location’s development to our needs. The district and authorities supported our project fully right from the start.”

CSU member of parliament Ulrich Lange is also delighted with the economic strengthening of the region: “The establishment of a major international company in Rain am Lech is advantageous for economic development in Donau-Ries. If additional jobs are created as a result, this is good for the region and the people benefit directly from this.”

Construction for the first building phase starts at the beginning of October with an investment volume of EUR 15 million. Three construction phases are planned in total over the next few years. The Donauwörth architect’s firm Obel-Architekten is responsible for the design.
