Aiwanger: “Invest in Bavaria performs well despite the coronavirus and strengthens Bavaria as a business location”

MUNICH  The Bavarian business promotion agency “Invest in Bavaria” performs well despite the pandemic. In 2021, Invest in Bavaria made a positive contribution to Bavaria’s economic success again with 84 successfully supervised projects, 74 of which were new locations. At least 1,955 new jobs were created throughout Bavaria as a result.

Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger is delighted: “The Bavarian government is doing everything possible to minimise the negative effects of the pandemic on our companies and to ensure that the economy recovers rapidly. Invest in Bavaria is also actively counteracting the crisis. With great commitment, it was possible to locate numerous companies from all over the world in Bavaria in 2021, sustainably strengthening Bavaria as a business location.”

Invest in Bavaria’s success in attracting companies to Bavaria is proof that Bavaria is valued worldwide as a leading location for innovation. Last year, more than 30 projects in the relevant areas of production, ICT and Internet infrastructure as well as research and development were successfully supported. These areas account for the largest share in creating new jobs. This focus on high-tech and industry is getting the Bavarian location fit for the future. The Ministry of Economic Affairs is making every effort to ensure that Bavaria remains a leader in the competition among regions for high-quality jobs and to further expand its position.

The investment projects supported by Invest in Bavaria originated from a total of 23 countries in 2021. The USA occupied first place among the foreign investors, ahead of China and India. The regional distribution of the projects is also encouraging: there were new locations in all seven administrative districts, and roughly a third of all new jobs are in rural regions.
