Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs Franz Josef Pschierer: "Stellwerk 18 is giving the digital future a home in Rosenheim"

ROSENHEIM   Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs Franz Josef Pschierer inaugurated the new “Stellwerk 18” digital start-up centre in Rosenheim today together with the Mayor of Rosenheim Gabi Bauer and the Deputy District Administrator for Rosenheim district Andrea Rosner.

Pschierer: "Stellwerk 18 is giving the digital future a home in Rosenheim and turning the region and Bavaria into a start-up location of international renown. We are supporting the project with roughly EUR 3.2 million. We are investing about EUR 80 million in 11 digital start-up centres at 21 locations throughout Bavaria in total as part of the “Gründerland.Bayern” initiative. Other start-up centres are being planned. Anyone starting up in Bavaria will find the best conditions: a state that helps with financing and very practical issues, established successful companies as customers, an unparalleled research landscape and comprehensive finance offers."

Stellwerk 18 is open to all digitalisation start-ups. Eleven start-up teams currently occupy 21 of the 28 start-up offices in total over 1,600 square metres. One special feature is the support for start-ups offered by the specially founded Stellwerk 18 professional association – Digitale Wirtschaft Südostoberbayern e. V.. Established regional companies, universities, investors, chambers and associations are involved in this. As a result, the digital conversion of the regional economy and the successful development of digital start-ups is being collectively promoted in the region. The Ministry of Economic Affairs is also supporting these networking activities with another EUR 1.25 million.

"Bavaria supports research institutes and companies in shaping digital change more than any other state. In total we will be investing EUR 5.5 billion in the digital future of our state by the end of 2022 – more than any other federal state. And we are also continuously expanding the support for digital start-ups: among other things, we are setting up another digital start-up centre in all government districts outside the metropolitan areas." says Pschierer.
