Accelerator for “Digital Health”

MUNICH   The WERK1 start-up centre funded by the State of Bavaria and Roche are driving the digitalisation of the health sector forwards together. Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Technology Ilse Aigner: “We are strengthening the start-up scene in Bavaria with the “Digital Health” accelerator that is officially starting its work today. We have a competent partner by our side with Roche. What I am hoping for is digital innovation, creative thinking and open exchange between industry and start-ups.” The Minister continues: “Bavaria is a leading location for the health sector and medical technology. We are also a top address for digitalisation and start-ups. With the accelerator for “Digital Health”, another element is now being added that sensibly complements our Gründerland.Bayern initiative.
 
In the first round, the programme’s “Batch zero”, six start-ups will be able to use rooms at WERK1 free of charge until the end of June 2018 to work on their concepts with the help of Roche mentors and experts from WERK1.
 
WERK1 is an essential component of Munich’s start-up scene. It provides young start-ups with rooms, infrastructure, coaching and mentoring at favourable conditions and helps with location marketing and all issues to do with business start-ups. Roughly 40 start-ups are currently working on innovative digital business models over an area of 4,200 m2. There are accelerator programmes on select topics, such as the W1 Forward InsurTech Accelerator in collaboration with Bavaria’s insurance industry. WERK1 is a blueprint for a new generation of digital start-up centres that are currently being developed in all Bavarian administrative districts.
