MUNICH / BAYREUTH Neue Materialien Bayreuth GmbH (NMB)'s Technology Centre began operations today. "With this construction project and our investment in machinery and equipment, we are making Upper Franconia even more competitive. New materials are essential as the basis for many innovations," said Bavaria's Vice-Minister for Technology, Franz Josef Pschierer. The Ministry of Economic Affairs has provided around EUR 3 million in funding for the new Technology Centre. Bavaria wants to achieve further progress in this key technology, continued Pschierer, in order to continue to expand its leading role in future topics such as electromobility, the transition to renewable energies and CO2 reduction.
Pschierer: "Thanks to our initial funding of EUR 41 million so far, NMB has grown into a successful research institution. The NMB develops solutions on an industrial scale, which our companies can then transfer into their own production facilities." The close link between NMB and the University of Bayreuth also allows both technology transfer and an intensive exchange of information, he continued. Innovative start-ups can also benefit from the business incubator operated by NMB. The company is part of the Neue Materialien Nordbayern competence centre, which also has a site in Fürth (Neue Materialien Fürth GmbH).
