MUNICH A new study by the European Commission sees the City of Munich in the number one position among European ICT locations. According to the study, the location offers ideal conditions for a successful digitalisation of the economy. The decisive factors for the position were, among others, the access to venture capital and the excellent networking between business and application developers.
Munich's excellent position is a motivation for Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs, Ilse Aigner: "The future belongs to information and communications technologies, the digitalisation of the economy will continue to progress. I hope that Munich's success will radiate throughout Bavaria."
The Commission's report was published for the first time and it analysed three elements (business activity, research and development, innovation in the ICT sector) with view to their intensity (e.g. turnover, increase in turnover, number of employees), their internationalisation (e.g. number of international partners of the companies/research institutions/universities) and their networking (role of the individual regions in networks: hubs with direct connections to many partners in comparison with connections with only few possibilities for exchange).
