Launch of the Digital Shopping City Bavaria pilot project

Aigner: “We are promoting innovative strategies to make Bavarian retail ready for the digital future”

MUNICH   Bavarian cities can now apply for the model project. Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs, Ilse Aigner: “With the Digital Shopping City Bavaria (Digitale Einkaufsstadt Bayern) pilot project, we are bringing cities and trade associations closer to digital innovations. We need a shop-based retail and e-commerce from one single source. The pilot project is intended to highlight new approaches that can be transferred to other municipalities.”

In the Digital Shopping City Bavaria pilot project, a group of experts will select three cities and coach them in the ideal use of digital innovations. The two-year pilot project focuses on cities with 10,000 to 50,000 inhabitants, which have an active community of retailers and existing public-private cooperation structures. “Every company in Bavaria needs a digital strategy, even retailers. Digital innovations such as e-commerce are a considerable challenge. “We are promoting innovative strategies to make Bavarian retail ready for the digital future,” says Aigner.

The project is being conducted by a working group consisting of CIMA Beratung + Management GmbH, BBE Handelsberatung GmbH and elaboratum GmbH. The bid documents are available now. To take part in the application process, cities must submit all documents to CIMA Beratung + Management GmbH by 7th September 2015 (email: gemeinsam-onlinecima.de, fax: 09191 / 340894, Luitpoldstr. 2 91301 Forchheim). The pilot cities will be selected by 30th October 2015.
