MUNICH Showa - this is the name of a Japanese automotive and motorcycle supplier that has just set up its first German branch office in Munich. Founded in 1938 and with headquarters in Saitama, the company produces high-quality components such as motor vehicle shock absorbers or motor cycle front suspensions. Regular customers of Showa are not only Japanese manufacturers such as Toyota, Honda or Nissan, but also BMW, Ducati or Harley Davidson. From its Munich location, Showa Corporation wants to expand its business activities with Bavarian and German customers.
"We chose this location because the proximity to our German customers was a top priority.", says Akio Tamura, director of the branch office. "Moreover, the international business network of Showa Corporation requires a very well developed infrastructure to guarantee that other business locations can be reached quickly. Thanks to our proximity to the Munich airport, we will be able to reach our customers everywhere in Europe in a short time. The active local support by Invest in Bavaria and by the representative office of Bavaria have confirmed that we have made a good choice."
Dr. Wolfgang Hübschle, Head of Invest in Bavaria, the Business Promotion Agency of the State of Bavaria, bids the company a warm welcome: "Showa Corporation's arrival is an important addition to Bavaria's automotive landscape." I am happy about the strengthening of the partnership and cooperation between the two top automotive nations. Invest in Bavaria wishes everybody working in the company a successful start and excellent business!“
Showa Corporation's international orientation started soon. As early as 1978, the company had built up its first international production site in Indonesia. Its global expansion continued successfully, and it currently employs around 13,000 people all around the world.
