MUNICH The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) decided today that Munich will be the Digital Hub location to receive InsurTech alongside Mobility. Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Ilse Aigner: “Bavaria is one of the leading insurance locations worldwide and one of our leading industries with more than 100,000 jobs, 60,000 of them alone in Munich. A lively and innovative start-up scene has also developed alongside major international companies. They are all working very closely together and mutually benefiting from each other, especially with digitalisation. This development is being given an additional boost with the BMWi’s decision to base InsurTech at the Munich Digital Hub. Making Munich a worldwide digitalisation pioneer in the insurance industry.”
The application for the InsurTech theme was made by WERK1.Bayern GmbH. Application partners were renowned companies and institutions in the Bavarian insurance industry. The Munich Digital Hub has already been awarded with the Mobility theme as part of the government’s Digital Hub initiative. Furthermore, Nuremberg/Erlangen has been selected as the Digital Hub for E-Health.
