Bavarian business promotion agency locates 121 companies last year

Aiwanger: "2018 a record year for Invest in Bavaria”

MUNICH – 2018 was the most successful year so far in the history of the Bavarian promotion agency “Invest in Bavaria”. 146 successfully managed projects, 121 of them alone cases of new locations, prove Invest in Bavaria’s outstanding commitment. 1,817 new jobs were created and another 710 jobs were secured throughout Bavaria as a result.

Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger is extremely satisfied with the business promotiont agency’s work: “Bavaria is an attractive investment location for companies from all over the world. The investors supported by Invest in Bavaria, including many start-ups, came from a total of 37 different countries of origin last year. This impressively shows that Bavaria is valued as a leading location for innovation worldwide. Bavaria’s strength lies particularly in its well qualified professionals, the numerous business-related research institutes and strong industrial base established here. The superb links to its international airports and high quality of life also contribute to making the state so attractive to foreign investors.”

The USA occupied first place among the foreign investors, ahead of Japan and Great Britain. All in all, the origin of the investments is distributed relatively evenly across many countries, which indicates that Bavaria is attractive as a location for innovation. The new locations were distributed over all seven government districts, although the investors’ interest in Munich and Upper Bavaria remained well above average. According to Aiwanger, the business promotion agency is making an important contribution to the business location of Bavaria. “Each location produces new jobs to the advantage of Bavaria and the benefit of its people,” says the Minister.
