MUNICH The e-commerce company Jumbo Interactive from Brisbane, Australia, opened its European branch in Munich at the beginning of the year. The company has been active in the field of Internet-based lottery distribution to Australian national lottery companies for over 15 years. As the market leader, it operates an online lottery distribution portal in Australia. In Germany, Jumbo Interactive has already obtained licenses to sell lottery tickets in all federal states.
Bavaria's Vice Minister of Economic Affairs Franz Josef Pschierer welcomes the company at its new location: "We are delighted that we have been able to support Jumbo Interactive in locating to Germany. The company's choice of location underlines the leading role of Munich and Bavaria in Europe in the field of e-commerce and digital marketing."
Munich had to compete with Amsterdam, Berlin and Bern when the company was looking for a suitable location from which to tap into the European market. "We ultimately chose Munich due to the large market potential in Germany and the attractiveness of the location for specialist staff from IT and digital marketing. Our office in Munich will be a base for Jumbo's European activities," says Gerhard Sparrer, Managing Director of the German branch. It currently employs eight staff in Munich. The company plans to hire up to 40 people – particularly in the field of digital marketing – at the new site in the medium term.
Jumbo Interactive employs about 90 staff worldwide. The parent company is listed on the stock exchange in Australia, as well as in Frankfurt, Berlin and Stuttgart. Besides its office in Munich, the company has foreign branches in the USA and Mexico.
