MUNICH Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs, Ilse Aigner, yesterday presented the Smart Digital Award. “I am delighted with this digital ideas competition. It shows that Bavaria can be a trailblazer in digitalisation,” says the Minister of Economic Affairs.
This is the third year that Bavaria's Ministry of Economic Affairs has held a competition for innovative digital products in order to promote digital business applications from the business environment. The Smart Digital Award is the successor to the Smart Mobil Award, which honoured successful mobile products in the previous two years. It is part of the Digital Bavaria strategy, with which the state hopes to become the leading region in the digital revolution.
In the Business category, the expert jury honours innovative digital products, services or business processes that have already achieved economic relevance. This year, it was won by itWatch GmbH with its enterprise security suite itWESS – a new, cost-efficient IT security software that allows secure data exchange within a company through encryption, logging and reliable user identification.
The Start-up category is for digital solutions in the business environment that are implemented by young companies and start-ups. This year's award went to Kinexon GmbH, which has developed a cloud-based system for locating and recording the movements of objects and people with centimetre accuracy. As well as the certificate, the winner of the Start-up category this year was awarded prize money of EUR 2,500 for the first time.
