Bavaria's Vice Minister of Economic Affairs Pschierer on Bavaria as an aerospace location

Pschierer: "Bavaria is impressing the world with aerospace technology"

MUNICH        Bavaria's Vice Minister of Economic Affairs Franz Josef Pschierer will today welcome high-ranking representatives of the aerospace industry at the European Space Solutions conference in Munich. From 5th to 7th November, anyone who is anyone in the European aerospace industry will meet in the Alte Kongresshalle to discuss aerospace activities and how they can benefit humanity. "This is proof once again of the leading role of the state in this key high-tech sector," says Pschierer.

Bavaria is characterised by excellent conditions for the aerospace sector. For example, many top universities offer degree courses in the field. Expert networks such as the bavAIRia aerospace cluster and the Ludwig Bölkow Campus, funded by the Bavarian Economics Ministry, are also important cornerstones of this success. Pschierer believes that Bavaria is on the right track. "Both the companies based here and an increasing number of foreign investors consider Bavaria a top location for the aerospace sector," emphasises the Vice Minister.

"I am confident that the interest of foreign investors in the field of aerospace technology will continue to grow. The objective of our activities is to invest in the technologies of tomorrow, to cement Bavaria's pioneering role in the aerospace sector, and thus to strengthen the companies based here and encourage companies from all over the world to settle here. If nothing else, the EADS Group's decision to concentrate its defence and aerospace activities in Munich acts as a beacon for Bavaria as an aerospace location," highlights the Vice Minister.

Invest in Bavaria, the Business Promotion Agency of the Free State of Bavaria, recorded constant growth in the number of enquiries from companies in the sector in 2013 and can point to various interesting success stories from companies that have moved here. For example, the aerospace company Centum, whose headquarters are in Madrid, recently opened its branch Centum Deutschland GmbH in Munich, from where it hopes to continue to drive forward the development of radio technology. Greenspider GmbH, a company that develops technological solutions for sustainable mobility, electromobility and car-sharing programmes, decided to locate to the Nuremberg branch of the Business Incubation Centre run by the European Space Agency (ESA BIC Bavaria). The French company Atmosphere chose the state as its new location and opened an office in Weßling, Upper Bavaria. Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation, the Japanese manufacturer of the Mitsubishi Regional Jet, also opened a new site for quality assurance in Munich in 2013.
