Winner of the Northern Bavaria Business Plan competition
The time had finally come in mid-July: three lucky winners of the 2017 Northern Bavaria Business Plan competition were awarded. The winners from Erlangen, Sonnefeld and Nuremberg were able to beat 51 competitors in total and can now enjoy prize money to the amount of EUR 10,000, 7,500 and 5,000.
Bavaria has been supporting founders and start-ups with the Business Plan competitions for more than 20 years now. This always consists of three phases. Phase one marks the beginning, getting the full potential out of your own business idea, the aim in phase two is to launch your own product or service on the market. In the final and third phase, entrants define their business plan and financing and therefore provide the basis for growth and appealing to investors.
Innovative winning teams
The winners of the 2017 Northern Bavaria Business Plan competition were then finally awarded at an official event in cooperation with the LfA Förderbank Bayern, the competition’s sponsor, at Tafelhalle Nuremberg, on 13 July. Seven teams in total were nominated for the final. The founders’ varied ideas range from solutions from medical, information, electrical and flying robots technology to 3D technologies and preventive health programmes using an app. The first two places for this year’s winners focus on healthcare solutions. For example, nice!innovations from Erlangen won first place this year with their development of an innovative fixator, which improves the care of seriously injured casualties. Lab-on-Fiber from Sonnefeld, who is also part of the Medical Valley EMN like the first prize winner by the way, takes second place with innovative sensor technology in medical laser sensors and systems The third prize winner also impressed the jury of experts with their development in a pitch. GS Bavaria from Nuremberg operates in the chemistry and materials sector and has established itself worldwide as the first provider of various nanoscale carbide and metal powders. Dr. Otto Beierl, CEO of LfA Förderbank Bayern, is certain: “The innovative ideas, talent and courage of the Northern Bavarian competition’s winners are impressive! They are actively shaping the Bavarian economy’s future with these.”
