"We will take you further – Hof district as a business location"
Every district has its strengths, and these need to be highlighted. Hof, the most northerly district in Upper Franconia, is currently showcasing its advantages at the "Haus der Bayerischen Landkreise" (House of Bavarian Districts) in Munich.
The exhibition was opened last week in the presence of the Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Hans-Peter Friedrich.
The exhibition is entitled "We will take you further – Hof district as a business location", and this is no overstatement. "The fall of the Berlin Wall and the entry of our neighbours, the Czech Republic, into the European Union have put us back in the heart of Europe and made us a hub for Central and Eastern Europe," said District Administrator Bernd Hering, hosting the event. Hof is halfway between the urban centres of Munich and Berlin, Frankfurt and Prague. Three efficient motorways, direct access to national and international rail networks and five airports within a radius of 160 km are all part of its outstanding transport infrastructure.
Strong companies are the lifeblood of an economic region. An impressive selection of Hof-based companies is also presented at the exhibition: dennree, Europe's largest organic trader; Rehau AG, Gealan and Lamilux, renowned representatives of the plastics processing industry; and highly specialised small and medium-sized companies of international standing, such as Sandler and Liros.
Hof hopes to draw attention to itself as a region for companies to locate to and showcase its qualities as an attractive location for innovative industries. The district is of particular interest to automotive suppliers, for example. Thanks to Automobiltechnikum Bayern GmbH (ATB), they have the opportunity to use the latest test bench technology to test components, systems and vehicles for vehicle safety and endurance strength, and to conduct environmental simulations. The ATB is also represented at the exhibition.
With its surrounding countryside including the Fichtelgebirge hills and the Franconian Forest, the district also provides the work-life balance employees and their families need. And there is a good supply of young specialists too: Hof University of Applied Sciences offers over 30 Bachelor and Master degrees, providing a large pool of well-trained specialists.
The exhibition runs until mid-July in the office of the Bavarian Landkreistag (district association).
