Video interview with Ms Irene Bader, Member of the Board at DMG MORI, a global leader in machine tools and additive manufacturing
The world’s leading Japanese machine tool manufacturer – DMG MORI – is in the process of setting up its new European headquarters in Munich. DMG MORI’s new European headquarters will initially be located, on a temporary basis, in “Parkstadt Schwabing”, and is due to expand its new premises near the city’s Olympic Park in the “Go Four It” business quarter, with a floor area spanning 10,000 m² by the year 2026. A spectacular showroom complete with a technology centre for customers, partners and up-and-coming talent is to be created there. By taking this step, DMG MORI is reaffirming its commitment to Bavaria as a business location. Roughly a third of the Group’s 13,000 employees worldwide work in Germany.
DMG MORI CO. LTD., founded in 1948 in Nara (Japan), is the global leader in the discipline of machine tool manufacturing. The company is active at three locations in Bavaria: in Munich with its European headquarters founded in 2024, in Geretsried (Upper Bavaria) and in Pfronten (Swabia), where DMG MORI operates the largest production plant in Europe.
European headquarters in Munich: at the heart of Europe, great infrastructure and well-trained specialists as decisive factors in the choice of location
According to Dr Masahiko Mori, President of DMG MORI, the central location in Europe, the outstanding infrastructure and the talented labour pool in the Bavarian capital were all decisive factors in the choice of location for the company’s European headquarters in Munich. The fact that the largest European production plant in Pfronten – in the Allgäu region – is only a two-hour drive from Munich also played a major role in the decision-making process. Watch the video interview with Ms Irene Bader, Member of the Board DMG MORI Company Limited and Ms Susanne Schierok, Representative of the Free State of Bavaria in Japan, to discover what further plans DMG MORI is pursuing at the site in Bavaria.
Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Hubert Aiwanger, also visited DMG MORI’s office in Munich to show his appreciation for the company’s commitment, and to find out about the company’s current plans for expansion. The Invest in Bavaria team will continue to support DMG MORI, and wishes them all the best as the company continues to grow in Bavaria.
