Strong performance from Bavaria in the district league table

Focus-Money magazine has tested districts to measure the economic power of Germany's regions and communities. The winner is Bavarian.

First place went to the town of Ingolstadt, while third place was held by another Bavarian city: the state's capital, Munich.

A total of seven factors were examined, and Bavarian regions and municipalities led the way in four individual categories, too.
Erlangen was the region with the highest population growth; Ingolstadt – the home of Audi – the region with the greatest economic output; the district of Starnberg the region with the highest income; and the rural district of Munich held on to its top ranking when it comes to gross value creation per member of the working population.
