Servus meets Howdy – Five minutes with… Bohème, members of the Bavarian delegation at SXSW

Numerous Bavarian and international companies are travelling to Austin in Texas this year too to present, get to know and find out about the latest developments in the interactive, film and music industry at SXSW. In a small special series of 5 minutes with... we are talking with the start-ups who are part of the Bavarian delegation. Today, Amadeo Gaigl from Bohème reports on what he has planned in Austin with his start-up.

Bohème offers an app with an exclusive magazine and newspapers that can be read for free in a selected location, such as in a café or on the train.

You will be travelling to SXSW for the first time. What are you most looking forward to?

To many exciting encounters with people from the area of journalism and the international tech scene. Oh yes, and also that I can get my lederhosen out in Texas.

Will the other SXSW visitors also be able to test and experience your technology live, on the spot?

Yes, there will be the opportunity to do so! We will equip the German Haus with our technology and have also developed some cool features for it. For example, at the Digital Journalism Rocks Event in the German Haus, the international journalists and people from the media will not just be able to experience innovation in terms of media technology, but also receive it. Depending on where they are, they will also receive fun facts about Bavaria via push notifications. The cool things about it is that these notifications are different depending on where you are in the German house. So, it’s almost like a type of Pokémon Go with journalistic content.

Which programme item do you want to attend, without a doubt, or is there someone who you definitely want to meet?

We want to meet a lot of international journalists who want to take our media technology solution back home to their publishing houses. At the Digital Journalism Rocks event, we have the great opportunity to do so! Then, we are, of course happy about being able to excite international corporations about our start-up, the Bohème app and the chances behind it. We hope to win over one partner or another and welcome them in Munich at Oktoberfest, at the latest.

You’re allowed to present your company there too. How are you preparing for this?

We had really helpful workshops on how to pitch things US-style with Jewell Sparks, an experienced expert from the start-up scene, who did an unbelievably good job of preparing us. Now we feel like we’re truly ready for it and are really looking forward to it!

What are your objectives for SXSW? How should the conference take your company forwards?

We know that it is a one-of-a-kind chance to talk with potential international partners. In any case, we want to return to Munich with new contacts and concrete ideas on co-operations. And they should also be easy to implement by Oktoberfest ;-)
