Part 2 of #bytevaria talk: What You Need to Know About Settling in Bavaria

In the setting of our cosy alpine cabin in the heart of Bavaria, we discuss a wide range of topics with representatives from Bavaria's business sector two to four times a year. We take an in-depth look at various aspects involved in the topic of setting up a company in Bavaria by answering the following questions: Where is the state ahead of the competition? How can you benefit from basing your company in Bavaria? How can you, as an investor, take advantage of the numerous benefits?
We would like to introduce you to different projects and innovations, present initiatives or highlight the potential of individual sectors and, furthermore, show how investors can benefit from Bavaria's digitization offensive.

In the first episode, we welcomed Dr. Franz Glatz, head of the Munich-based incubators Werk 1 and Gate Garching. We spoke to him about Bavaria's technology and start-up centres and the opportunities they offer for the start-up scene in Bavaria. The topic of digitization already played an important role and will continue to do so over the coming years.

Bavaria as a driving force of Industry 4.0

The second episode will include a number of top-class guests: In a discussion with Dr. Carlos Härtel, Managing Director of the GE Global Research Center–Europe in Munich and recently named CEO of GE in Germany and Austria, Dr. Wolfgang Hübschle will explore the opportunities Industry 4.0 offers for investors and companies in Bavaria. The keyword that summarises all activities involved in the fourth industrial revolution is creating quite a stir. In an interview, Carlos Härtel explains what exactly this is all about and, above all, what benefits it offers for companies. In addition, we will talk to experienced industry experts about the challenges which companies must inevitably face in light of the ongoing digitization.

One of the major topics of the discussion includes the question of how companies can master these challenges successfully and benefit from the numerous location advantages offered by Bavaria. Carlos Härtel is very familiar with the topic of collaboration and knows how start-ups can benefit from the expertise of established companies and the many talents from Bavarian universities and research institutions.
GE's research centre has been in operation in Garching for more than ten years. Of course, we seized this opportunity to ask Carlos Härtel, the head of the centre, about the reasons for settling in Garching.
