FOCUS Erfolgs-Atlas 2016 – Bavarian rural districts lead the way

Bavaria is the undisputed leader when it comes to economic success and quality of life. 17 Bavarian rural districts were among the top twenty in the “FOCUS Erfolgs-Atlas 2016” (success atlas).

In the overall ranking of the strongest economic regions in Germany, Bavarian rural districts impress across the board, with winners from all over the state (including the rural districts of Neumarkt i.d. Oberpfalz, Erlangen-Höchstadt, Landshut and Dillingen a.d. Donau). Rural areas did particularly well (including the rural districts of Unterallgäu, Dingolfing-Landau, Pfaffenhofen a.d. Ilm and Weilheim-Schongau). The rural district of Munich's undisputed position at the top of the ranking comes as no surprise, having already stood its ground against its competitors in the Prognos Zukunftsatlas 2016 and Regional Ranking 2016 by IW Consult.

For the current study by news magazine FOCUS (published in issue no. 48 on November 26, 2016), more than two million items of data were collected for all 402 rural districts and independent cities in Germany, encompassing fields as diverse as growth and jobs, start-ups, productivity and location costs, income and appeal, and security and quality of life. Bavaria’s strengths were clear to see throughout, with its regions coming top in every category.

Bavaria is one of strongest economic regions in Europe – it’s worth investing here!
