Direct access to the A6 and A93 motorway junction!

The municipalities situated around the A6 and A93 motorway junction are all capitalizing on the economic region in the Northern Upper Palatinate. In this area, investors will find unoccupied commercial premises as well as reasonable transport connections.

In 2008, eleven municipalities joined the district-wide and inter-municipal association entitled “das plus der oberpfalz”. Members include the city of Weiden in der Oberpfalz, Wackersdorf, Schnaittenbach, Guteneck, Leuchtenberg, Luhe-Wildenau, Wernberg-Köblitz, Nabburg, Pfreimd, Schmidgaden and Schwarzenfeld. The objective of the association is to market the economic region in a joint venture. One recent example of this is the presentation of available commercial premises by the member municipalities at transport logistic taking place from 5th to 8th May 2015 in Munich. The trade fair is considered to be an international leading trade fair for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management.

Those who are unable to personally make it to the trade fair can find a simple and up-to-date overview of available commercial and industrial premises via the commercial premises database established by the association. At present, around 88 hectares of commercial premises are available for investors within the region – with property prices still below the national average.
Companies within the region particularly benefit from the central location on the A6 and A93 motorway junction. The A93, as a north-south connection, heads in the direction towards Munich and Berlin, respectively, and the A6 provides an ideal east-west connection to the next largest cities of Nuremburg, Pilsen or Prague.

The “plus der oberpfalz” can also reap the benefits of a qualified and dedicated workforce. For instance, more than 3,000 students are enrolled in 18 different degree programmes at the “Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden (OTH)”. Approximately 80% of its graduates are employed in companies within Upper Palatinate. In addition, the region offers a wide variety of recreational activities and housing opportunities at affordable prices.
