AVATR is a young electric car brand from the western Chinese metropolis of Chong Qing that was established as recently as in 2018. The company was established by investment from Changan Auto, with battery manufacturer CATL and technology group Huawei as the most important partners. AVATR presented its first model series at the IAA 2023 in Munich.
The German branch of AVATR was founded in Munich at the beginning of 2021 and has been operating as an international design centre ever since. According to the company, the team in Munich is responsible for all design developments, from interior to exterior. AVATR Munich currently has over 90 employees - mainly designers - who were recruited from various countries. With its new, ultra-modern office in the north of Munich, AVATR now occupies premises totalling 2,000 m². By the end of 2025, the company anticipates a staff increase of up to 20%–30%.

The grand opening of the new site in Munich took place at the end of October 2024. Invest in Bavaria congratulates AVATR on this milestone and remains available for further support in the expansion of the new location in Bavaria.
