Bienvenue en Bavière: The Malt digital freelancer marketplace opens an office in Bavaria

The French start-up Malt is now also active in Germany. Expansion in the DACH region is to be driven forward from the new location in Munich. The aim is to network companies with talent in the digital economy. This has already been achieved with great success: Since its launch in summer 2019, 7,000 freelancers have registered – with around 1,500 new ones joining every month.

Malt offers freelancers the possibility to choose projects freely and to determine the conditions themselves. Malt offers companies the opportunity to work quickly and securely with the best talent in the digital economy. The start-up company from Paris takes over the administration and payment processing and ensures that the freelancers are paid on time. The self-employed are also insured through professional liability insurance.

Start-ups, SMEs and corporations can all benefit equally from the platform

Malt offers companies a comprehensive management tool through which all activities with freelancers can be bundled and controlled digitally throughout. This makes the solution not just interesting for start-ups and SMEs, but also for corporations that want to centrally manage their freelancer activities across multiple departments. The proximity to customers for freelancers as well as companies was one of the reasons for Malt to settle in the state capital.

"With access to technology and digitisation talent, we want to help make Bavaria and Germany even more attractive as a business location and reduce the shortage of skilled workers. Malt's aim is not only to provide a secure and uncomplicated market place for cooperation between companies and freelancers but also to be a pioneer for the future of work in Germany."
– David Lauber, Country Manager Germany at Malt

The German head office in Munich does not just offer the start-up company a beautiful mountain panorama. The strong presence of major companies and SMEs, especially in the IT and engineering sector, means that Malt has opportunities for local cooperation. The company intends to develop the entire DACH region in the long term from Munich.

"As a European and Frenchman, I am particularly pleased to be represented in Germany with Malt now. Entering the market here in Germany is an important step for our further European expansion. We can only succeed in driving digitisation forward in Europe and building internationally successful tech companies by working together. Invest in Bavaria provided us with excellent support with the opening of our new location."
– Vincent Huguet, CEO of Malt

Start-ups from Bavaria are shaping the world of work 4.0

Innovative solutions for the future world of work are in great demand. Whether it’s recruiting, personnel management, payroll accounting or further training – digitalisation is also making its way into these areas. Innovative start-ups such as Malt, Personio, KiwiHR or TalentCube are providing new impetus in the world of work 4.0.

Invest in Bavaria supported Malt with setting up an office in Bavaria. In the meantime, the company employs 12 people at its Munich office in "Silicon Schwabing", and there are already 20 employees in the entire German team. We wish Malt all the best for the future and will continue to be available as a contact partner.
