Bavaria and India – Make it together!

The heraldic animal is not the only thing Bavaria and India have in common: both are also linked together by their economic strengths. As a partner country of the Hannover Messe 2015, India has courageously presented itself with its “Make in India” campaign, using its heraldic animal the lion as a symbol of the new India. The most important campaign objectives for the Indian Prime Minister Narenda Modi consist of activating new investments and strengthening business relations with Germany.

Around 400 Indian companies from leading economic sectors in India such as biotechnology, renewable energy, aerospace, health and IT were represented at the world's most important industrial fair in Hanover, and as a result India – which was already a partner country of Hannover Messe in 2006 – was portrayed as an ambitious investment and production partner for Germany.

The “Make in India” campaign is also taking off in the same assertive way. In total, six bilateral declarations of intent were signed between Indian companies within the public sector and globally active companies from Russia and Europe. This included four German companies which concluded a cooperation agreement with Indian state-owned enterprises.

Even the Bavarian company EniT GmbH signed a declaration of intent with the Indian state-owned enterprise Hindustan Machine Tools Limited with the aim of providing comprehensive and customer-specific engineering solutions for the German market in a joint cooperation.

Hindustan Machine Tools Limited (HMT) is one of the oldest state-owned production companies in India and is headquartered in Bangalore. The company is well-known and boasts success due to the production of watches, tractors, printing machines as well as its specialisation in CNC systems and bearings.

EniT GmbH is a leading, internationally operating company that was founded by Indians and is headquartered in Munich. The company is active in the automotive industry, aerospace as well as in satellite navigation. The EniT corporate affiliate specialises in the provision of engineering services and is also established in India with an offshore design and development centre.

This declaration of intent signed by both companies allows HMT to benefit from EniT's experiences on the German market. In return, EniT will be able to make use of HMT's manufacturing expertise in machine tools and electronics which spans over many years.

We are also delighted that the two companies with international roots will get involved in local associations and clusters as EniT GmbH is also an active member in the aerospace cluster. With more than 200 members and stakeholders, “bavAIRia” represents the entire industrial and research landscape and this offers HMT, as a cooperation partner of EniT, a unique network in aerospace.
