A new neighbour for it-sa: Command Control, the cyber security conference in Munich

Digitalisation and cyber security are two topics that cannot be thought about separately. Which is why it is hardly surprising that Bavaria will soon be hosting the second high-level event in cyber security behind it-sa with “Command Control” The Leading Summit for Cyber Security in 2018.

The new event starts on 20 September 2018 in Munich and focuses on one of the most important developments over the last few years: namely that cyber security is no longer merely just an IT issue but has long been a key lever for growth for companies of all sizes in all industries. It is for this reason precisely that Command Control is aimed at CEOs, CIOs, CISOs, IT managers, security administrators for data privacy and those responsible for technology and production. Participants receive insights into cyber security’s extensive issues based around five key themes: Data Protection, The Human Factor, Legal Landscape, Critical Infrastructure and Connected Manufacturing.

At the same time, Command Control isn’t solely a trade fair format but also includes interactive training and networking formats, workshops and showcases. Messe München was chosen carefully for the format, as leading technology companies are based at this high-tech location, working on joint developments with start-ups and the state’s institutions and last but not least the Universität der Bundeswehr München will also be running Germany’s largest cyber research centre here in future.

Cyber security in Bavaria

The new event is being held in good company in Bavaria, at the end of the day one of the world’s most important cyber security trade fairs, the it-sa, has been taking place in Nuremberg since 2009. More than 500 high-ranking exhibitors were showcased at it-sa this year. Besides this, there were several specialist presentations on cyber security.

Together with Sicherheitsnetzwerk München, Invest in Bavaria invited participants to the international Town Hall Meeting at it-sa this year for the second time. Three inspiring keynotes were on the event’s agenda this year. Dr Gerhard Schabhüser, Executive Vice President of BSI, started off with his talk on the question of how cyber security can be organised in the age of digital transformation. This was followed by Audi CISO Arvid Rosinski who went into the topic of security in the age of artificial intelligence. And last but not least, CyberSparks’ CEO Roni Zehavi considered how the ecosystem concept can be revived in light of the future cyber challenges. The international cyber security community had the chance to discuss cyber security issues during the “Bavarian Networking Lunch” afterwards.
