Top connections? Goods transport centres in Bavaria!

Goods transport centres (GTC) are a key location factor for Bavaria. GTCs are logistics centres in which goods are transferred between different means of transport, consolidated into loads and prepared for transportation.

The key feature of a GTC is the interlinking of different means of transport (e.g. road and rail), as well as transport (forwarding) companies, transport-related service providers (vehicle service, consulting services) and industrial and trading companies with a focus on logistics. This allows intermodal transport chains to be implemented for companies, increasing companies' flexibility when it comes to transport options. There are currently five GTC locations in Bavaria: Augsburg, Hof, Ingolstadt, Nuremberg and Regensburg.

The anniversary “25 years of the goods transport centres (GTC) working group in Bavaria” is being celebrated on 13th and 14th October. The event is hosted by the town of Hof, which is famous for its logistics expertise well beyond the state's borders. As a location, Hof is characterised by the logistics focus of Hof University of Applied Sciences, its strong logistics companies and networks, and the ideal transport infrastructure. A new logistics park extending to 50,000m² currently offers space for new companies to settle.
