Highly-automated logistics grow in Burgbernheim – SECURA Group celebrates topping-out ceremony

At the end of September, a topping-out ceremony was held in Burgbernheim, Bavaria, on the site of the logistics company symbiolog, part of the SECURA Group. Construction work on the highly-automated logistics centre started in April 2016, and the high-bay warehouse is now reaching for the sky.

The project, which is supported by the technical consulting company io-consultants, is the construction of a multi-functional building with approx. 11,000 m² of floor space on a four-hectare plot. Around 35 commercial and business staff will work there to start with. The new logistics company works based on state-of-the-art warehouse management and picking technology and, with its comprehensive range of services, is primarily oriented toward manufacturers in plumbing, heating and air conditioning technology.

“Our customers expect ever shorter delivery times. symbiolog is tackling this trend head-on with flexible automation technology, which can handle a high number of small orders mixed with large warehouse orders economically,” explains Markus Irmler, Project Manager and CEO of symbiolog. The company is part of the SECURA Group, headquartered in Winterthur, Switzerland. The investment company, an umbrella for numerous SMEs, currently employs around 700 people and generates annual sales of more than EUR 100 million.
