Top tip: Schweinfurt’s Maintal Industrial and Business Park

A somewhat different industrial and business park, …

… that is noticeable at first glance. The spacious main street, lined with trees, is dotted with roundabouts that lead to the various sections of the industrial park while avoiding traffic jams. The eye of the visitor is immediately drawn not only to the imposing, historical factory gate of SFK, which stands at the “entrance” to the park as a symbol of successful work, but also to the unusually large number of architecturally attractive commercial buildings. The flags of international companies, such as the American bicycle component manufacturer SRAM or the global automotive supplier Horton Europe, have also been raised in the Maintal Park.

Saving time, money and nerves …

All building lots are owned by the city of Schweinfurt. Employees of the city’s business development agency give investors professional advice and support on all aspects of their projects. The municipal administration is known for its unusually short approval processes: as early as the year 1996, the city of Schweinfurt was awarded the “Low-bureaucracy zone” distinction by the Würzburg-Schweinfurt Chamber of Commerce and Industry. One notable example worth mentioning is a 15-million euro investment in the Maintal Industrial and Business Park that was approved in a record time of a mere 24 days.

All roads lead to Schweinfurt…

We justifiably publicize our central location. There is hardly another business location that is as centrally situated in Germany as Schweinfurt. New autobahns ensure top-notch accessibility and shorter travel times – to the new markets in Eastern Europe as well.
Logistics networks have been built around Schweinfurt’s industries which guarantee your product to be anywhere in the world within 24 hours. It translates as speed and flexibility.
Nuremberg’s international airport is 100 km away, the Frankfurt airport can be reached in less than two hours by car. Your goods can also be transported on waterways: Schweinfurt’s port gives you access to central Europe’s network of canals, which connects East and West. With its combined cargo traffic terminal at Schweinfurt, the Deutsche Bahn offers a well-developed railway network for the environmentally-friendly shipping of goods.

Lots of benefits for lots of money?

Quality is not always expensive. Lots are available in the attractive Industrial and Business Park starting at 31 euros per square meter – including street developments.

Start-ups begin by saving

Start-ups and young firms are not required to invest in a lot immediately. The Maintal opportunity center also offers modular hall units with 650 square meters on average and about 80 square meters of corresponding office space for renting at excellent rates.

Schweinfurt moves the world.

Progress is a tradition in Schweinfurt. Schweinfurt has been famous as an industrial town for over 100 years and is known as the hub of Europe’s roller bearing industry.

The name of the town is inextricably linked with inventions that literally move the world:
ball bearings and the modern bicycle equipped with a free-wheeling hub.

To this day, the products, applications and systems of four large factories in Schweinfurt, FAG, Sachs, SKF and Rexroth Star, ensure that things run smoothly throughout the world.
Some examples:
The high-pressure turbo pumps for the rocket engines of the Space Shuttle are equipped with FAG ball bearings; FAG developed integrated ball bearing units for civilian aerospace that reduced overall size, thus lowering weight and operational costs. In 2000, Ferrari and Michael Schumacher won the Formula One world cup as well as the constructor’s title with Formula dampers from Sachs. In 2004, Schumacher picked up the latest of his world cup titles. And the Schweinfurt company is still supplying Ferrari in the new season. The Hong Kong underground trains run with SKF ball bearings. The elevators that carry visitors to the top of the Eiffel Tower operate with roller bearings from GAF. The world’s largest Ferris wheel, the so-called “London Eye”, does its rounds smoothly thanks to SFK and FAG bearings. Rexroth-Star linear technology is installed in the stage machinery of the famous Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.

Over the last few years, other sectors such as electrical engineering and medical technology have also strongly established themselves in the region. One example is the company Fresenius Medical Care Deutschland GmbH in Schweinfurt, which develops and produces medical engineering equipment.Since 1979, Fresenius Medical Care has supplied dialysis machines from here to all parts of the world for the treatment of patients suffering from chronic kidney failure. More than one out of every two dialysis machines used worldwide comes from the plant in Schweinfurt

Life and living

If you are imagining a city skyline of smoking chimneys, you are wrong! Quite the contrary.
A large supply of oxygen is provided by numerous parks, including one with fauna, and lots of vegetation in the residential and even industrial quarters.

Friends of nature enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the nearby Rhön, Steigerwald, Hass Mountains, or the Franconian wine-growing region. Around 80 associations in the city provide for just about every type of leisure activity.

The cultural life of the city also has something suitable for every taste: theatres, museums, cabaret, and lots more.

The inner city has all you need for shopping; additionally, an ECE City Gallery is scheduled to open in the autumn of 2008. Numerous city-wide festivals and events ensure diverse entertainment throughout the year.
